When holidaying in Crete, there are places that you must visit. Crete has so many beautiful and interesting places to see and explore, that one visit will not do it. Below is our "must see" list of villages and seaside resorts that we would recommend any first, second or third visitor to visit. Crete consists of four regions; Chania in the west, Rethymno, Iraklio in the center and also the capital of the island, and to the east the Lassithi Plateau. In general, the northern shores of Crete are developed for tourism, and some of them full-blown package tourism traps. If you are looking to discover the culture of Greece, some of these places aren't for you. But fear not, Greece is big and varied and there are many beautiful spots to discover.
