Nea Hora (new town) is a small district at the eastern part of Chania town. It is situated beside a long sandy beach and its central street leads right into the beautiful Old Venetian Harbour.
Nea Hora's quite a privileged area since it combines modern beach facilities, good fish tavernas and it is also very close to the center of
Chania and its conveniences.
Chania along with Sao Paolo and Rethimno are the only cities that are privileged to have sandy beaches within their city borders.
Nea Hora is not only a tourist destination but also an inhabited part of the town. Still it is peaceful enough, since there is just one main street with high traffic. Its beautiful beach and good tavernas is mainly why the area is so popular during the summertime, ideal for families who wish to have everything within a short distance.
Nea Hora can also be convenient for young people as they can find an excellent beach very close to their apartments and enjoy the several conveniences the nearby towncenter has to offer!. The sandy beach of Nea Hora is actually in the middle of the city, its only 5 minutes walk from the old town and harbour area in the centre of Chania. The beach is about 10 kms long and there are charming tavernas and cafe's all along the beach road
