Kato Gouves is situated approximately 10 – 15 minutes from Heraklion International Airport Kazantzakis. Gouves has its recreation centres, sport centres, shops, car rentals, Tavern Restaurants and various bars and clubs which are scattered in the resort and in the surrounding area. The beautiful sandy beaches stretch along a 3 kilometre promenade where you can sit at one of the many restaurants or bars to enjoy a drink and view the most amazing sunset. Main Street is just 1 kilometre away with many more shops, restaurants, discos some of which are open until the early hours of the morning.

In recent years, the tourist development has been very marked in this area, due on the one hand to its wonderful beaches, on the other hand, to its vicinity to Heraklion to the west and Chersonissos a few kilometres to the east. Gouves covers an area of 9496 ha. and has a population of 5000 people.
