In the south of Crete, in the area of Plakias, overlooking the bay and the surrounding valleys, there is a hill that the locals know as KOULES. A watchtower was constructed on this hill during the Turkish occupation in order to combat the continual uprisings of the Cretans and in an attempt to establish control over the coastline and nearby villages. This tower they called KOULES and the hill eventually took this name. More recently, close to the ruins, we have developed a new, small group of 3 houses in a style which pays respect to the local architecture, offering excellent views and serviced by a private road which runs through our family olive groves. The Plakias area is well known for its beautiful, sandy beaches for those who love the sea; valleys and ravines for those who prefer hiking or long walks; and the picturesque Cretan villages with their traditional color for those who wish to taste some of the local flavor and mix with the local people

Each house consists of about 80 square meters with similar basic structure and layout and can accomodate 2 - 4 people comfortably. There is one large bedroom with access to its own verandah. The traditionally tiled bathrooms have a large bath and shower facilities and toilet. The bathroom also contains washing-machine fixtures.
A spacious living room has sofa-banks with storage space underneath them and an open fireplace constructed from local stone. Spotlights underlight the gabled ceiling. The living room gives out onto a large verandah. The fully equipped Italian style kitchen has an electric oven and sizeable fridge. Other interior features include air conditioning in the living room and bedroom; solar heating plus an electric booster for the winter; all floors are made from imported Italian white granite. Each house has its own garden and private parking space
